River Swim

'River Swim' started as an impressionist study to practice movement and break away from my tendency of creating rigid or static art. As the painting progressed, it reminded me of the end of summer. In Spain, it's still very hot in September and going to the beach or the pool becomes repetitive. To be able to withstand the climate, I used to go with my best friend to a river near our home. The water was crystal clear, and despite the heat, the water was as icy as ever. When we plunged in, we could only hear the sound of water running over the rocks and the freshness surrounded us, calming the feeling of stuffiness. We were accompanied by the buzzing of dragonflies, the sight of tadpoles, and the first leaves of autumn. I like to look at this painting and remember those summers.
